Practical Scrappers 10 Things

Today I am up on the Practical Scrappers Blog for a post 10 THINGS VELLUM.
It has been quite some time since I used vellum in my paper crafting projects, but I did have some in my stash!
I decided to try and make a vellum flower. I didn't think about taking pics of each step, but wanted to share how I made my flower.
I took my Marvy Uchida scalloped circle punch and punched 3 scalloped circles. I then cut almost to the center of the circle, every other scallop, all the way around the circle.
I misted and added alcohol ink, (it curls up while you are doing this, but I flattened it out as best as I could after).
Once dry, I stacked them on top of each other and added a brad thru the middle. EASY PEASY!

Here is my layout using  My Scraps & More Sketch #34:

Made the switch

Hey Google readers, I have made the switch to Bloglovin.
Would love if you would Follow my blog with Bloglovin

MME June Sketch

Tammi  likes to post scrapbooking companies monthly blog sketches up on the message board at My Scraps & More and when I saw this one for My Minds Eye, I feel in love and had to go check it out on the My Minds Eye blog. I played with it right away this morning and came up with this:

I used The Sweetest Thing line by My Mind's Eye. I whitewashed part of the background with Gesso mixed with water to tone it down a little, added some distressed ink splashes, added some patterned papers, fussy cut the small chevron arrows from a piece of patterned paper from the 6x6 paper pad, used the cut off piece (orange with white polka dots and turquoise stripes) from the bottom of the paper and made a banner out of it on the right side of my photo I fussy cut the flower and leaves out of patterned paper and popped those up. I then added the butterfly stickers and stitched those in place and left the trail of thread a wadded it up on my layout. I also added some arrow washi tape. Here are a few close-ups:

Here is their fun sketch:

It's Wednesday!

Hello and happy Wednesday!
I just want to share a layout I have up on the My Scraps & More Blog today. I made this layout  using My Minds Eye Collectable Collection along with a Practical Scrapper's sketch. I am a huge fan of My Minds Eye and this collection is fabulous! Aren't the colors just so pretty and I just love that pink Polaroid frame that was actually a journaling card!

On the message board over at My Scraps & More, we have our annual Got Talent contest going on right now. Hope you will stop on over and play along!

My First Tutorial-MSW

Hello!
Today I have my first tutorial up on the My Sketch World Blog! I am so excited and love how my card turned out! Just wanted to share here as well, but would love if you would go on over to MSW Blog and check it out there too!
OK, here we go:

A sunburst made from patterned paper:

Supplies needed:
Card base
Patterned paper/ cardstock
Cutting mat
Ruler
Pencil
Something round to trace a circle
Exacto knive/trimmer/scissors
Optional- sewing machine/ needle & floss

Step 1:
My card has a 5x7" base. Cut a piece of patterned paper or cardstock 5 1/2"x3 3/4".
Trace a circle on the backside of your patterned paper or cardstock. I put mine off center. Find the center of your circle and make a dot:

Step 2:
Start making your lines for your rays using a ruler and a pencil, go from one side of the paper at an angle to the other.

This is what it should look like when you are finished:

Step 3:
Next, I mark with pencil the rays I will be cutting. I try to leave the corner ones in tact if possible. Also by marking them, you will be sure you have the right amount of rays and won't have 2 cut out together. Using my Exacto knife, cutting mat and ruler, I cut on every line only from the circle outward:

Step 4:
On the rays you added the mark to (this should be every other one), trim along the circle with your scissors or Exacto knife to cut that ray off:

This is what it will look like when you are done:

Here is the front side:

Step 5:
Adhere the sunburst to your base or front panel of your card, I stitched mine, I think it gives it more texture:

Step 6:
Now you are ready to embellish and add your sentiment.

I used Lucy's June card sketch for my card:

Here is my completed card:

and a close up:

I would love to see your sunburst on a card or layout, just leave me a link here and I will check it out!
Thanks for taking time and visiting my blog!

A Toot and a Card!

I am guest designing at Cards in Envy this week and I am so excited!
Cards In Envy is a fun card challenge blog where you must create an A2 (4.25" x 5.5") cards to go along with their theme and keep the total thickness of your card 1/4" or less so that it doesn't require any additional postage when mailing.

Any who, here is my first card using the theme, STITCH IT UP:

I used straight stitching and zigzag stitching on this card.
I have been trying to use up some of my stash and I am not really a purple scrapper, but love the purple and green color combo on my card.

I would love if you would take some time and check out what the design team did with this challenge.

Happy Monday!

It's Monday, that means there is a new sketch up on the Let's Get Sketchy Blog!
I used the Echo Park, Here & Now Collection for my layout of Austin and I on Mother's Day. Austin never lets me take his picture, so with it being Mother's Day, I knew he would pose for a few with me and he did!

Here is the fun sketch for this week:

Stop on over to the LGS Blog and see what the other design team members did with it and to play along!

Inspiration Elevator June Challenge

You may recall that the purpose of this challenge group is to take our scrapbooking to the next level, to stretch our creative process and to grow as artists by embracing challenges that make us think, work and grow. You can view all of the challenges on my blog by clicking HERE or check our our new Inspiration Elevator Blog, here.

This month's challenge is issued by the super talented, Sue Sykes. Here's what she had to say in her very own words:

"I have all of my parents' photos stored at my place.  Shortly after I began scrapbooking,  my mom and I spent hours removing her photos from those dreadful magnetic albums and documenting dates on the back of them all.  So I will often sift through them and marvel at how much things change - and yet, they also seem to stay the same.

This month, I'd like to challenge you all to create a comparison layout or project - THEN and NOW.  It can be any topic; just document the parallels and differences between an event/person/place from the past and a modern likeness.  REMEMBER TO JOURNAL!! :)

Can't wait to see what you all create!"

For my comparison layout, I had several things come to mind, but I guess my biggest change or comparison was  the way I scrapbook now from when I started 16 years ago. So I chose to do a layout on that.

I recently bought and have been playing with modeling paste and decided to use that along with a mask on my layout:

My journaling reads: "The scrapbooking world has changed so much since I started scrapping in 1997! I went from the basics- diecuts, cardstock and deco edged scissors to beautiful patterned papers, inks, paints, mists and so much more in the last 16 years of this wonderful hobby!

I hope you will stop by and see what our designers on this adventure have created:

Remember, if you play along, please leave a link in the comment section of my blog or the Inspiration Elevator Blog. We would love to see what you do!

A New Card Sketch

It's the 15th of the month, that means there is a new card sketch up at My Sketch World!

I decided with Father's Day being tomorrow, that I would make a card for my Dad using the sketch.
Here is my card:

Stay tuned on Tuesday for a fun tutorial I have using this sketch and making another card with it!
Have a wonderful day!

Yay It's Saturday!

Which means it is my day up on the Just Imagine Blog!
I scrapped some more pics from the MSW Houston Crop last summer, man that was a fun weekend!
I used the Kreaxions 4 in 1 Punch 916 with no insert for my border below the photos and used part of the fall away piece below the journaling. I also used the Circle Cutter and cut 4 different sized circles and stitched those on. I used the My Scraps & More layout sketch #32 for this fun page:

Hello and happy Friday!

Another TOOT!

The Turtle Soup Forum .. part of the Scrapping Turtle

This Was Awsome!

Hello and happy Wednesday!
Just want to share a layout I have up on the My Scraps & More Blog today.
I used the Elle's Studio Saltwater Collection.
First of all, I have to say, this is the first time I have worked with any Elle's Studio products. Second of all, I am hooked on them! LOL!
I used pictures of Austin in the tunnel at SeaLife in the Mall of America. We were all blown away at how cool it was to have turtles and sharks swimming around us. If you ever get the chance to go, DO IT! My husband and kids weren't exactly thrilled when I told them that was one thing we had to do there, but were really glad they did it!

Anyway, here is my layout:

The "hello there" rhinestone is from the Color Me Happy Collection by Glitz.

Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week!
